Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, has presented cash and gift items to a mother who recently delivered quadruplets at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, describing the birth as a rare and special blessing from God.

Mrs Aiyedatiwa, while congratulating the mother and her family, said the State Government received the news of the safe delivery with great excitement, noting that the arrival of four babies at once is uncommon and worthy of celebration.

Mrs Aiyedatwa explained that she was at the hospital on the directive of the State Governor to identify with the family and appreciate the medical team.

She stressed that while twin and triplet deliveries are becoming more common, the birth of quadruplets remains rare.

“We congratulate all of us on this delivery. This is not a common occurrence. Twins are common, triplets are common, but four babies at a time is rare.

The First Lady commended the management and staff of FMC Owo for their professionalism and dedication, which ensured the safe delivery and good health of both the mother and the babies.

She presented gifts in cash and kind to the mother of the quadruplets and also distributed cash gifts to other women who recently delivered at the facility.

“When I received the information about the multiple births, I said this is worth celebrating. I want to appreciate the management of this hospital for a job well done because all four babies and the mother are alive and healthy,” she added.

Earlier, the Head of Clinical Services at FMC Owo, Dr Adeyinka Ayeyemi, while welcoming the First Lady, said the hospital has the capacity of a teaching hospital and continues to render quality healthcare services to residents of the state.

He noted that the facility also serves as a centre for residency and professional training for pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare workers.

Dr Ayeyemi expressed appreciation to Mrs Aiyedatiwa for identifying with the family, despite not being formally notified of the multiple birth.

He appealed to the Ondo State Government for increased support, noting that FMC Owo plays a critical role in providing healthcare services, especially to residents in the northern part of the state.

In her response, the mother of the quadruplets, Mrs Ayobamidele Ojo, expressed profound gratitude to the First Lady for the love and support shown to her family. Overcome with joy, she prayed for God’s protection and strength for Mrs Aiyedatiwa to continue her humanitarian efforts.
